Roughly 20 percent of voters said the coronavirus pandemic will never end, a new Hill-HarrisX poll finds.
Nineteen percent of registered voters in the Sept. 18-19 survey said the pandemic will never be over, 23 percent said it will be over in the next few years and 20 percent said in seven to 12 months.
Sixteen percent said the pandemic will end in 13 to 24 months, while 10 percent said three to six months.
Eight percent of respondents said the pandemic is already over, while 4 percent said it will be over in less than three months.
Unvaccinated voters and Republicans were more likely to say the pandemic will never end, at 20 percent and 26 percent, respectively.
Vaccinated respondents were more likely to say the pandemic will be over in the next few years or between seven and 12 months, at 26 percent and 21 percent, respectively.
Democratic voters were more like to say the pandemic will end in seven to 12 months or the next few years, at 26 percent and 25 percent, respectively.
On Monday, the U.S. death toll from COVID-19 surpassed that of the 1918 flu pandemic. The country has reported more than 675,000 coronavirus related deaths since February 2020.
The Hill-HarrisX poll was conducted online among 959 registered voters from Sept. 18 to 19. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.2 percentage points.
