TALK OF THE MORNING – I HAVE UNLIMITED, NO, SUPER-UNLIMITED CAMPAIGN FUNDS. EVERYTHING YOU WANT – YOU GOT IT: Donald Trump is beating back criticism over his terrible May fundraising report (and I mean terrible – I’ll put that into perspective below), claiming that he has “unlimited” cash on hand i.e. his own $$. “If need be, there could be unlimited ‘cash on hand’ as I would put up my own money, as I have already done through the primaries, spending over $50 million dollars. Our campaign is leaner and more efficient, like our government should be.” http://bit.ly/28MQL2o
It’s Tuesday and Team USA is playing in the Copa America semifinals against Argentina tonight, so naturally my outfit today looks like I’m literally wearing an American flag. U-S-A, U-S-A, U-S-A! I’m Cate Martel with a quick recap of what you missed this morning — and what’s on tap for the rest of the day. Send comments, story ideas and upcoming events to cmartel@digital-staging.thehill.com, @CateMartel and on Facebook.
BACK STORY – IT’S ALL ABOUT THAT BASE…: Donald Trump‘s campaign finished May with just $1.3 million in the bank, a strikingly low figure for a presumptive presidential nominee. Let’s put this into perspective: Trump’s figures are more in line with a Senate or House candidate than a presidential nominee. This puts him behind not only Hillary Clinton, but Bernie Sanders and Ted Cruz (!) http://bit.ly/28L2BHI
WELL THIS FEELS FISHY: Via AP’s Julie Bykowicz and Chad Day, Trump’s campaign has plunged at least $6.2 million back into Trump corporate products. That’s 10 percent of his total expenditures. I.e.: the campaign buys Trump water, Trump wine and often has his events at a Trump property. http://apne.ws/28L8ch7
REACTION: THINGS ARE JUST PEACHY OVER HERE – NO, GREAT. NO, AMAZING, NO YUUUUUUUUGE: Donald Trump’s campaign says it’s not worried about the flat lining fundraising numbers. “In fact, we just returned from a tremendously successful swing through Texas, Nevada and Arizona. Mr. Trump will continue to do everything he can to defeat Hillary Clinton in November,” campaign spokeswoman Hope Hicks told NBC News. http://bit.ly/28JXCbe
BUT THOSE FUNRAISING EMAILS CAN HINT AT YOUR SECRETS: Tweet from Politico’s Gabe Debenedetti: “Trump just sent a fundraising email.” http://bit.ly/28LCRjs
IT’S BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD NOW: Via The Hill’s Alexander Bolton, the Senate rejected all four gun control measures yesterday. But don’t be too shocked: They each needed 60 votes and were all expected to fail. Here’s how each vote played out (and who voted for what): http://bit.ly/28Kl1I7
DEVELOPING NOW – 3 ARRESTED HEADING INTO NYC WITH GUNS, KNIVES, BODY ARMOR: Via NBC New York, three individuals were arrested with multiple loaded guns, rifles and ballistic vests at the Holland Tunnel today when police stopped them for driving with a cracked windshield. The investigation is ongoing, but officials have said so far there is no terror threat. http://bit.ly/28K8Jkc
BEHIND-THE-SCENES OF TRUMP FIRING HIS CAMPAIGN MANAGER: Via The Hill’s Jonathan Swan, as of Saturday, Donald Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski was energetically making campaign plans for the future. He was oblivious to the fact that when he walked into work Monday morning, he was about to be fired — that advice coming from Trump’s children. Why the timing is surprising: Trump opted to release the news at the beginning of the week, attracting a slew of media attention, instead of over the weekend or Friday afternoon (like most politicians do to avoid bad press). Full play-by-play: http://bit.ly/28LUsr8
NEW UPDATE: Via NBC’s Kelly O’Donnell: “Sources tell me ‘the [Trump] family is fully in charge’ in wake of Lewandowski firing.” http://bit.ly/28KNaP5
LEAKED THIS A.M. – CLINTON’S VP SHORTLIST: Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) and Housing Secretary Julian Castro are on Hillary Clinton‘s shortlist for her presidential running mate, according to a new AP report. But keep in mind: CNN reported a shortlist that included all three of those names, but also added Labor Secretary Tom Perez, Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) and Rep. Xavier Becerra (D-Calif.). http://bit.ly/28LumSo
Any guesses who she’ll pick? Get at me.
NEWS TO WATCH TOMORROW — HILLARY ON DA HILL: Via The Hill’s Cristina Marcos, Hillary Clinton is meeting with House Democrats tomorrow for the first time since becoming the party’s presumptive nominee for president. She was invited by House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) and Democratic Caucus Chairman Xavier Becerra (Calif.). Note: Trump will meet with House Republicans on July 7. http://bit.ly/28L1d7Z

Trump’s campaign may be a disaster, but if he loses, I don’t think the reason will be a lack of field offices. http://bit.ly/28KExUp

NOW FOR THE FUN STUFF…:
Today is National Cookie Dough Day! Celebrate early and often, friends.
SLOWLY AND QUIETLY STARTS CHANTING “CHICK-FIL-A”: Via CNN’s Kathryn Vasel, the American Customer Satisfaction Index Restaurant Report 2016 released today shows that America’s favorite fast food restaurant is … Chick-fil-A — and by a wide margin. Papa John’s came in second — and Chipotle had the most glaring change in satisfaction. Here’s the full list: http://cnnmon.ie/28KTvL3
