The Hill’s 12:30 Report: Clinton speech to hit Trump on race | Hard-liners shrug off new Trump immigration tone | EpiPen lowers price | Orlando hospitals won’t bill Pulse survivors | Katie Ledecky makes Bryce Harper hold her medals | Pancake selfie truck in DC
NEW DEVELOPMENT — EPIPEN PRICE COMPLAINTS NO LONGER IN VEIN: (Sorry, had to) The maker of EpiPens announced that it is reducing the price of the device following an uproar in Washington over the cost of the treatment for serious allergic reactions. Before: Mylan increased the price of its EpiPens from $57 in 2007, when it took over sales of the product, to $600 for a standard two-pack. New price, hot off the press: Mylan said it will provide a savings card worth up to $300 for people paying the full out-of-pocket price, effectively reducing the cost by 50 percent. http://bit.ly/2bIAZar
Where things got sticky: Via Bloomberg’s Anna Edney and Billy House, the CEO of Mylan is Heather Bresch. Bresch is the daughter of Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin (W.Va.) Awkward. This put members of Congress in an unusual position. The usual process would mean that Bresch would be called up to Capitol Hill next month to explain her company’s justification for the price. http://bloom.bg/2biIpNK

RELEASED TODAY — I HATE HOW MANY TIMES THE KKK HAS BEEN BROUGHT UP THIS ELECTION … :Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton‘s campaign launched a video linking GOP rival Donald Trumpto the Ku Klux Klan. Watch: http://bit.ly/2cb5b01
TRUMP REACTION: “Hillary Clinton and her campaign went to a disgusting new low today as they released a video tying the Trump Campaign with horrific racial images. This type of rhetoric and repulsive advertising is revolting and completely beyond the pale. I call on Hillary Clinton to disavow this video.” — Pastor Mark Burns
PREVIEW OF WHAT’S TO COME: Clinton is giving a speech in Reno, Nev., at 1 p.m. EDT today where she will attempt to tie Trump to the “alt-right” movement. Live stream: http://bit.ly/2bJEfRF
TRUMP LAST NIGHT: “Hillary Clinton is a bigot who sees people of color only as votes, not as human beings worthy of a better future,” he said at a rally in Jackson, Miss. “She’s going to do nothing for African-Americans. She’s going to do nothing for the Hispanics. She’s only going to take care of herself, her husband, her consultants, her donors.” http://bit.ly/2bCOJ3a
CLINTON RESPONDS: “[Donald Trump] is taking a hate movement mainstream. He’s brought it into his campaign. He is bringing it to our communities and our country.”http://bit.ly/2bJDqIy
ANNOUNCED TODAY — ORLANDO SHOOTING VICTIMS NOT CHARGED FOR TREATMENT: Via ABC’s David Caplan, the healthcare network Orlando Health and Florida Hospital announced they will not charge any of the victims of the Pulse nightclub shooting in June. “Orlando Health has not sent any hospital or medical bills directly to Pulse patients and we don’t intend to pursue reimbursement of medical costs from them,” Orlando Health said in a statement to ABC News. Who’s picking up the tab: state and federal funds, private insurance, victim funds, disability insurance, Florida’s crime victim compensation program, etc. http://abcn.ws/2car53l
{mosads}HAPPENING TODAY — STEP INTO MY WEB: Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is meeting with Latino and black activists today at the Trump Tower in Manhattan. Note: Trump was originally expected to give his immigration policy speech today in Colorado but postponed it. Here’s what to expect from the meetings: http://bit.ly/2bQ7f97
Tweet from Bloomberg’s Jennifer Jacobs: “At Trump Tower today for meeting with minority activists in RLI program: Katrina Pierson, Steve Bannon, Kellyanne Conway, Ben Carson, Trump.” http://bit.ly/2bzG3gM
Scheduling: In addition to his meetings in New York, Trump is also scheduled for a campaign rally in Manchester, N.H., and fundraising in Colorado. Racking up those miles, today!
OP-ED GETTING TRACTION: In The New York Times, Nicholas Kristof has a column titled, “Anne Frank Today Is a Syrian Girl.”
— “We all know that the Frank children were murdered by the Nazis, but what is less known is the way Anne’s fate was sealed by a callous fear of refugees, among the world’s most desperate people. Sound familiar?” A19 of NYT print edition: http://nyti.ms/2bILtqg
THIS IS AN ASTOUNDING STAT: Via Third Way’s Lanae Erickson Hatalsky, quoted in a Roll Call article, “If Clinton wins and Republicans keep control of at least the House, she will be the first incoming Democratic president whose party would lack full control of Congress since Grover Cleveland, in 1885.” http://bit.ly/2bOucsW
EH, IT’S NOT AS FLASHY, BUT THIS WILL DO: Via The Hill’s Mike Lillis, immigration hard-liners are embracing Donald Trump‘s new, softer message on immigration. Why: This softer tone conveys a more practical approach to deportation without subverting the GOP presidential nominee tough positions on enforcement and border security. But his tough stance worked during the primaries: Trump’s rise in the primaries has been credited in large part to an aggressive immigration platform that’s included attacks on Mexicans and promises to deport all of the 11 million people living in the country illegally. But we’re not in Kansas anymore!: On Saturday, Trump met with a group of Hispanic advisers for the first time. http://bit.ly/2bYDaHo
MOST SHARED — WHAT A HEADLINE: From The Washington Post: “A C-SPAN caller asked a black guest how to stop being prejudiced. Here’s how she responded.” http://wapo.st/2bAAgoF

IMPORTANT PANCAKE NEWS: Via Popville, the Holiday Inn Express is bringing a food truck to the Adams Morgan neighborhood in Washington, D.C., for its “Pancake Selfie Express” tour. “District residents can visit the truck at Adams Morgan to snap a selfie and have it printed on a free pancake made by the brand’s super smart, one-touch pancake machine. Just push a button and get a pancake in 60 seconds.” Deetz: It’ll be on the corner of Columbia Road NW and 18th Street NW today from 2–6 p.m. and tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
ARE WE GONNA GET SOME NEW DIGS?! MAYBE SOME NEW FRIENDS?: Via The New York Times’s Kenneth Chang, scientists discovered that another Earth could be circling the star right next to us. “Intriguingly, the planet is in the star’s ‘Goldilocks zone,’ where it may be neither too hot nor too cold. That means liquid water could exist at the surface, raising the possibility for life.” Why this is different: Scientists have discovered many Earth-like worlds throughout the galaxy, but this one is particularly intriguing because by cosmic terms, it’s very close. http://nyti.ms/2biPiP6
And to leave you on an upbeat note, here is a grown man — and obvious train enthusiast — completely losing it over seeing an unusual train. “That horn gives me the chills. Oh and the chills have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with how cold it is here. Ahhh!” http://bit.ly/2biOXMg
