Boehner uncertain of O-Care fix

Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) said on Thursday he was “highly skeptical” that President Obama could find a fix for the cancellation of health insurance plans that was both “legal and effective.”

“I just don’t see, within the law, their ability to do that,” the Speaker said at a Capitol press conference.

Boehner spoke shortly before Obama announced the administration would allow insurance companies to offer plans for another year that do not comply with the Affordable Care Act. The hurried move was an attempt to head off a political firestorm over the president’s promise that if “you like your healthcare plan, you can keep it.”

The House is set to vote on a Republican bill aimed at fixing the problem legislatively, but Democrats have said it would undo crucial reforms in the law.
