Clinton hails Obama ‘for taking action’
Hillary Clinton praised President Obama on Thursday night for moving forward on immigration after he announced his executive actions on the hot-button issue.
Clinton, the Democratic front-runner for the 2016 presidential race, took to Twitter to thank Obama, moments after his speech from the White House.
{mosads}”Thanks to POTUS for taking action on immigration in the face of inaction,” she tweeted. “Now let’s turn to permanent bipartisan reform. #ImmigrationAction.”
Clinton had remained silent on the issue in recent days. But her allies were privately signaling that the former secretary of State would support Obama’s decision to take action after immigration reform failed to pass Congress.
If she does run for president, some political observers say Clinton will benefit from Obama’s executive actions because they will rally Hispanic voters at a time when Republicans have failed to draw them in.
