Among Republicans and Republican-leaning voters, 87 percent said the party was divided now. Nearly half of Republicans said the party will unite by November, but 40 percent said the GOP will still be divided by the general election.

Among Democrats and Democratic-leaning voters, 77 percent think the Republican Party will still be divided in November, 13 percent think it will unite by then, and just 5 percent think the GOP is united now.

Just 16 percent of Democrats and Democratic-leaning voters think their own party will still be divided in November. About one-third of Democrats think their party is united now.

The poll also found that 35 percent of Republicans and GOP leaners said it would matter to them if former President George W. Bush endorsed Donald Trump, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee.

The survey was conducted among 18,208 adults from June 13 to 19. The margin of error is 1.1 percentage points.
