Indiana Gov. Mike Pence’s campaign says “nothing was offered” during a Saturday meeting between Pence and presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump.
“The Pences enjoyed spending a warm, productive time with the Trumps. They talked about policies that are working in Indiana and the future of our country,” said Marc Lotter, deputy campaign manager for Pence’s re-election campaign, in a Sunday statement, according to ABC News.
{mosads}”Nothing was offered and nothing was accepted during the meeting. The Pences are happy to be home in Indiana and getting ready for a full slate of Independence Day activities around the state.”
Pence, who is in the middle of a reelection campaign, has been floated as a potential running mate for the de facto Republican nominee.
The two held a meeting Saturday morning, reportedly initiated by Trump, at the Trump National Golf Club in New Jersey.
After the meeting, one source reportedly described the meeting as “warm and friendly,” and another said it was a “getting-to-know-you thing, a chance for both of them to connect.”
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) and former Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) are also reportedly being vetted as possible vice presidential candidates for Trump.
Pence had originally backed Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) before he dropped his presidential bid. He quickly switched his support to Trump after the real estate mogul won his state’s primary.
