Trevor Noah — the ratings-challenged successor to Jon Stewart on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” — is extremely upset with Donald Trump these days.
And night after night, to an audience more resembling friends and relatives than the masses tuning in, Noah attempts to take down the presumptive GOP presidential nominee with scathing, albeit largely unfunny material.
The latest rant from Noah — whose numbers are down nearly 60 percent from Stewart’s during the election year of 2012 — involves Trump’s Star of David and the charge that the billionaire, whose daughter married a Jewish man in 2009 and converted to Judaism, is now a full-fledged anti-Semite:
“I don’t think Trump hates Jewish people, but I know some of his supporters do. … In addition to black people, Mexican people, Muslim people. You know, most people,” Noah said on his program last night, later adding when pivoting back to Trump, “At some point, you’re a racist.”
Well, there’s an old saying around hypocrisy that goes like this: “Your words mean nothing when your actions are the complete opposite.” Exhibits A, B and C come from the Twitter feed of Noah, who really should consider avoiding this subject in the future if this is his perspective:
Messi gets the ball and the real players try foul him, but Messi doesn't go down easy, just like jewish chicks. #ElClasico

Behind every successful Rap Billionaire is a double as rich Jewish man. #BeatsByDreidel

Almost bumped a Jewish kid crossing the road. He didn't look b4 crossing but I still would hav felt so bad in my german car!

The more amazing part here is Noah insisting on keeping these tweets up despite getting roasted for them upon his “Daily Show” hiring. In addition to poor comedic timing, self-awareness appears to be a challenge as well.
Note: Nobody is defending Trump here, who really needs to put down his phone until November 8 or so. Without a buffer or someone to take 30 seconds to look into the origin of everything he’s retweeting, the cons will only continue to outweigh the pros.
“At some point, you’re a racist,” a contradictory fake news host once said.
Judging by his own words, Noah certainly should know.
