Clinton ad: ‘Who got hurt when Trump abandoned Atlantic City?’

Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign previewed its attacks on Donald Trump’s business record Wednesday, arguing his failed Atlantic City business dealings prove he isn’t qualified to be president.

{mosads}In a video titled “Who got hurt?” the campaign recounts Trump’s four bankruptcies in the New Jersey city and painted the presumptive Republican presidential nominee as someone who lines his pockets while laying off workers.

“Who got hurt when Trump abandoned Atlantic City?” the ad begins, showing excerpts of news reports claiming Trump failed to pay contractors in full.

“In Trump’s Atlantic City gamble, small businesses,” vendors, local builders and casino workers lost “and Donald Trump stacked the deck for himself,” the ad says.

The video comes ahead of Clinton’s appearance in Atlantic City Wednesday, where she will make the case that Trump’s destructive business dealings prove he is unfit for the Oval Office, according to a statement.

“The trip will highlight Trump’s now-familiar pattern: Trump restructured his debts, padding his own pockets, while investors, contractors, and working people bore the brunt,” the statement said.

Clinton often mentions Trump’s troubles in Atlantic City on the campaign trail.

“Just look at what he did in Atlantic City. He put his name on buildings — his favorite thing to do. He convinced other people that his properties were a great investment, so they would go in with him,” Clinton said recently at a speech in Ohio.

Trump preemptively responded to Clinton’s visit Wednesday, tweeting that Democratic politicians were at fault for the city’s economic downturn.

“I made a lot of money in Atlantic City and left 7 years ago, great timing (as all know). Pols made big mistakes, now many bankruptcies,” Trump tweeted Wednesday.

“Even the once great Caesars is bankrupt in A.C. Others to follow. Ask the Democrat City Council what happened to Atlantic City.”
