Colorado governor spoke ‘briefly’ with Clinton about VP

Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper says he “briefly” spoke with Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton last week about her search for a running mate.

“If you look at the challenges that this country and the world faces right now, if you’re someone who’s asked, that you’re one of the people that can really make a difference and your country needs you, of course you take it seriously,” Hickenlooper told Bloomberg TV.

{mosads}Hickenlooper reportedly had an hourlong meeting last week in Denver with Clinton during her visit to discuss technology issues. He told Bloomberg that they mostly talked about workforce training.

Hickenlooper has long signaled his openness to serving in the position, though he has previously acknowledged he’s likely not at the top of the list for potential picks.

Clinton is expected to announce her selection of a running mate before she officially receives the party’s presidential nomination at the Democratic National Convention, which starts on July 25.

Top potential picks for the position include Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Tim Kaine (D-Va.) and Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), among others.
