Dallas heightens security after threat

The Dallas Police Department has tightened security after receiving an anonymous threat, according to The Associated Press.

{mosads}Police conducted a search of a parking garage near headquarters after reports of a suspicious person. They were conducting a second, precautionary search with police dogs.

Media reports of shots fired were likely due to police using a device and a shotgun to enter a locked fence and doors. The police also refuted reports that the headquarters had been placed on lockdown.

Officials said earlier that heightened security measures were precautionary.
