Former KKK leader David Duke considering run for House

Former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke is mulling a primary challenge to a Louisiana House Republican who has past links to Duke.

Duke told The Daily Beast that he’s “set up an exploratory committee” for a potential bid against House Republican Whip Steve Scalise.

{mosads}He pointed to last week’s shooting that left five Dallas police officers dead as influential in his decision-making.

“I don’t take any satisfaction in the fact that I was right, but I have been right. … Unless European Americans stand up, they are going to lose everything they care about in this country,” Duke said.

“There are millions of people across the country who would like to have me in the Congress. I’d be the only person in Congress openly defending the rights and the heritage of European Americans.”

Duke vowed to push to reinstitute immigration quotas on races.

He said presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump is “riding a wave of anti-establishment feeling that I’ve been nurturing for 25 years.”

And he touted himself as a better vice presidential pick for Trump than former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, whom he called a “total sellout cuck.”

Scalise faced major criticism and calls to resign in 2014 when it was revealed that he spoke to a white supremacist group founded by Duke years prior.

Republican leadership ultimately backed Scalise, and he kept his position.

Duke first floated the House bid in 2015, according to audio from a radio show posted by Buzzfeed

Duke’s praise of Trump caused problems for the businessman earlier this year, when he did not immediately disavow Duke’s endorsement.

He ultimately denounced Duke, blaming the earlier non-denunciation on a faulty earpiece that caused him to mishear a reporter’s question.

Due to Louisiana’s jungle primary format, the primary for Scalise’s seat takes place on Election Day in November.

The race goes to a runoff if no one candidate breaks 50 percent in the jungle primary.
