Hillary Clinton maintains a double-digit lead over Donald Trump nationwide as Republicans prepare to crown him their nominee at next week’s convention, according to a Friday poll.
The weekly Reuters/Ipsos poll found that Clinton has the support of 45 percent of likely voters to Trump’s 33 percent. Other polling from this week puts the general election as a closer contest, with a recent New York Times/CBS News survey showing the two candidates tied at 40 percent.
The GOP convention kicks off on Monday, with the Democratic convention convening the following week.
The Reuters poll surveyed 1,186 likely voters from July 11-15 and has a credibility interval of 3 percentage points.
