Son of National Security Adviser deletes account after Muslim ban tweets
Michael G. Flynn, son of President Trump’s national security adviser, appears to have deleted his Twitter account Sunday, according to a Talking Points Memo report.
In multiple posts on Saturday and Sunday, Flynn reportedly used the hashtag “#MuslimBan” on tweets about Trump’s executive order banning refugees and immigrants from certain countries from entering the United States.
{mosads}In one tweet, preserved on an internet archiving site, Flynn wrote about recent terror attacks in the U.S. in response to someone tweeting that the ban is “nothing but bigotry.”
“Ft Hood,San Bernardino,9/11, Orlando,Boston Bombing, Garland (TX),Chattanooga,St Cloud(MN),OhioStateUniv..need anymore smart guy?#MuslimBan,” Flynn apparently tweeted.
Trump on Sunday released a statement stressing the importance of keeping the country safe and denying that his executive order amounts to a Muslim ban, amid protests and backlash from lawmakers.
“There are over 40 different countries worldwide that are majority Muslim that are not affected by this order.”
In December, the Trump transition team severed ties with Flynn over his habitual promotion of conspiracy theories.
The break, reportedly a direct order from Trump, came after Flynn suggested a made-up story about a child sex ring at a Washington pizzeria was true on the same day a gunman who believed the hoax had gone to the popular neighborhood restaurant and fired shots.
