George HW Bush released from hospital
Former President George H.W. Bush was released from a Houston hospital on Monday after receiving treatment for pneumonia, his spokesperson said.
“He is thankful for the many prayers and kind messages he received during his stay, as well as the world-class care that both his doctors and nurses provided,” spokesman Jim McGrath said in a statement.
Bush and his wife were hospitalized just before President Trump’s inauguration, preventing the former president and first lady from attending the event. Barbara Bush had been hospitalized for “fatigue and coughing.”
{mosads}Bush sent a letter to Trump before Inauguration Day, telling the then-president-elect that he and his wife were advised by their doctor not to attend the ceremony.
“My doctor says if I sit outside in January, it likely will put me six feet under. Same for Barbara. So I guess we’re stuck in Texas,” he wrote in the letter.
