Houston cheers Bush’s Super Bowl coin toss

Former President George H.W. Bush and Barbara Bush took the field at Super Bowl LI on Sunday to assist with the coin toss at the start of the game in their hometown.

They were greeted with cheers.

Bush and his wife were both admitted to the hospital last month, preventing them from attending President Trump’s inauguration. The former president was released from the hospital on Monday.

{mosads}”President Bush is the most goal-oriented person you can meet. When he sets a goal out there on the horizon, it’s almost like he wills himself to achieve it,” spokesman Jim McGrath said earlier in the day, as reported by the Houston Chronicle.

“They were so proud of Houston and how the community has come together to take on this massive challenge of hosting the Super Bowl,” said McGrath.

“He’s so proud of the city and the thousands of volunteers — all kinds of points of light in their own regard — who have helped pull it off in magnificent fashion.”
