Roger Stone claims ‘legal back channel’ to Assange

Former Trump adviser Roger Stone claimed he has a “perfectly legal back channel” to WikiLeaks’ Julian Assange on Saturday.

The social media “paper trail,” as reported Sunday by The Guardian, followed Stone tweeting about Trump’s claims that the Obama administration wire-tapped the candidate during the presidential campaign.

When a woman who describes herself a “Scientist & Statistics Prof. Health Equity & Racial Justice Advocate” in her Twitter bio tweeted about the unsubstantiated Trump claim, Stone angrily took to Twitter.

{mosads}He called her “ugly” and “stupid,” while claiming he has access to a “perfectly legal back channel” to Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks, which published emails obtained from and about Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign. Some intelligence officials believe that Russia played a role in obtaining those emails. Assange has spent four years in the Ecuadorian embassy in London to avoid extradition to Sweden over rape allegations.

Stone deleted the tweet later Saturday.

He tweeted Sunday that there is “nothing better than calling out liberal jerk offs on Twitter.”

Stone followed up with a Facebook post on Sunday. He said he “never denied that Assange and I had a mutual friend who told me Wikileaks had the goods on HRC and would begin disclosures in Oct. He did and they did. I didn’t admit it- I announced it. Assange does NOT work for the Russians and no one has proved otherwise. Although I never had direct contact with him, such contact would be neither illegal or improper. Nothing Wikileaks released was ever proved to be fabricated or untrue. This is/was all an effort to distract from the substance of the disclosures.”
