Meyers calls Trump presser ‘clinically insane’
Seth Meyers on Tuesday blasted President Trump after he held a chaotic press conference where he reignited debate over his hesitance to condemn white supremacists.
“President Trump this afternoon gave a press conference that can only be described as clinically insane,” Meyers said during “Late Night with Seth Meyers.”
“You know that list of side effects at the end of a pharmaceutical ad? He apparently has all of them.”
{mosads}Meyers’s comments come after Trump on Tuesday held a controversial press conference, during which he put blame on the “alt-left” as well as the white supremacists for the violent clashes this past weekend in Charlottesville, Va.
Trump also suggested there were “very fine people” on both sides in Charlottesville and said not all of the people marching this past weekend were white supremacists, that some just wanted to protest the removal of the statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee.
“So this week it’s Robert E. Lee. I noticed that Stonewall Jackson’s coming down. I wonder, is it George Washington next week? And is it Thomas Jefferson the week after? You know, you really do have to ask yourself, where does it stop?” Trump said.
“Where does it stop?” Meyers said during his show. “Buddy, we’ve been asking ourselves that question since January.
“Normally, when someone is talking that level of crazy, Batman crashes through the ceiling and punches him.”
Meyers also compared Trump to a bad waitress in a diner “who is trying to get fired so she can go to a concert.”
“Congress, isn’t this enough? Cut bait on the president,” Meyers said.
“It’s time to let this crazy bitch go to the concert.”
