Kremlin confirms Trump Tower email, says it did not respond

The Kremlin is confirming that it received an email from a lawyer working for Donald Trump’s family company asking for help on a potential Trump Tower development project in Moscow last year, but says it did not reply to it.

Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told Bloomberg that Michel Cohen, a Trump Organization lawyer, emailed the Kremlin’s press service explaining the company’s plans for a Trump Tower building in Moscow and “asked for help with some sort of recommendation or promotion.” 

“It’s not our issue,” Peskov added. 

{mosads}”We don’t respond to such business topics. It’s not our job, and we left it without a response,” Peskov said, adding that “thousands of messages” sent to the press service email address go unanswered. 

Peskov also said that the topic had not been discussed with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and that he did not know either Cohen or Felix Sater, another Trump associate. 

Plans for the tower were later scrapped. 

The Washington Post earlier this week reported on the Cohen email, citing documents submitted to congressional investigators.

The New York Times uncovered other emails by Cohen in which Sater argued that the building of “Trump Tower Moscow” would “get Donald elected.”
