Key GOP lawmakers are predicting there will be no shutdown ahead of a Feb. 8 deadline to keep the government open.
House Republicans are set to broach the matter at a closed-door conference meeting on Monday night.
“The government will not shut down,” GOP Senate Conference Chairman John Thune (R-S.D.) predicted late last week during the Republican retreat.
His sentiment was echoed by several other Republican lawmakers.
“I agree with him, I don’t think there’ll be another shutdown ” said Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C), chairman of the House Freedom Caucus.
