Former FBI Director James Comey was a “chameleon” in a “previous life,” one House Republican told The Hill shortly after reading excerpts from Comey’s upcoming memoir.
“In a previous life Mr. Comey was a chameleon — I’ve never seen somebody change his shades and stories as many times in my life,” Rep. Doug Collins (R-Ga.) said in an interview.
Excerpts of Comey’s book, “A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership,” were released Thursday.
In the book, Comey gives an account of his time in the Trump administration.
Rep. David Joyce (R-Ohio), a former prosecutor, told The Hill that Comey’s book has changed how he views the former FBI chief.
“I used to think very highly of Mr. Comey but I think he’s become part of the actors in the play, versus the law enforcement official that I thought he was,” Joyce said.
