Georgia officers who used coin flip to determine woman’s arrest fired
The Georgia police officers who used a coin toss to decide whether or not to arrest a driver earlier this summer have been fired.
Courtney Brown and Kristee Wilson, police officers in Roswell, Ga., were dismissed on Thursday following an internal investigation stemming from the April incident, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Brown and Wilson had previously been placed on administrative leave.
Their firing comes months after body camera footage showed the two officers using a coin-flipping app to decide if they would arrest someone Brown pulled over for alleged reckless driving.

In a tape of the incident, which was posted by Atlanta NBC affiliate WXIA and quickly went viral, 24-year-old Sarah Webb can be seen being pulled over after Roswell police estimated she was driving about 85 mph in a 45 mph zone.
A woman identified as Brown is heard in the video confronting Webb about speeding in wet conditions.
The footage then shows Brown returning to the cruiser, where she talks with the other officer, identified as Wilson. The two acknowledge in the video conversation that they do not have speed detection capabilities.
Brown then proceeds to open a coin-flipping app on her phone, according to the video. The officers ultimately handcuffed and arrested Webb.
Prosecutors quickly dismissed the charges against Webb after viewing the video.
Webb called for the officers’ firing, according to NBC News.
