Greene: Christie comparing Ramaswamy to Obama was ‘pretty racist’
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) tore into GOP presidential candidate Chris Christie for comparing fellow White House hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy to former President Obama during Wednesday night’s primary debate.
“I was pretty disgusted at Chris Christie and his racist comment towards Vivek Ramaswamy,” Greene said during an appearance on a Right Side Broadcasting post-debate program. “He compared him to Obama. I honestly thought that was pretty racist.”
During the debate, Ramaswamy introduced himself to GOP voters by saying, “Let me just address the question that is on everybody’s mind at home tonight. Who the heck is this skinny guy with a funny last name, and what the heck is he doing in the middle of this debate stage?”
After the entrepreneur called climate change “a hoax,” Christie, a Trump critic, interjected and blasted Ramaswamy.
“I’ve honestly had enough already tonight of a guy who sounds like ChatGPT,” Christie said. “The last person in one of these debates … who stood in the middle of the stage and said, ‘What is a skinny guy with an odd last name doing up here?’ was Barack Obama. And I am afraid we are dealing with the same type of amateur standing on the stage tonight.”
In a Truth Social post early Thursday morning, Trump, the race’s front-runner who did not attend the first primary debate, highlighted Ramaswamy’s praise for Trump.
Greene, a staunch Trump supporter, traveled to Milwaukee this week to serve as one of the former president’s surrogates and engage in media appearances advocating on his behalf.
