White House holds press briefing: Watch live

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre will hold a press briefing Thursday afternoon, joined by National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby.

The briefing comes as the House on Thursday passed the annual defense authorization bill, sending the $886 billion Pentagon policy and funding package to President Biden’s desk.

The final version of the National Defense Authorization Act, agreed to between the House and Senate, overcame opposition from hard-line conservatives who objected to its exclusion of a number of amendments passed by the House over the summer to weed out what they call “woke” Pentagon policies.

The press briefing is scheduled for 1 p.m. EST.
