Harris campaign unveils ad hitting Trump back over the border

Vice President Harris’s campaign on Tuesday unveiled a new campaign video that attacks former President Trump over the U.S. southern border in response to a Trump ad targeting Harris on the issue.

The new 50-second video argues that Harris wants to increase border patrol agents, invest in technology to block fentanyl from entering U.S., and spend money to stop human traffickers while Trump worked to block bipartisan legislation that would do so.

“There’s two choices in this election, the one who will fix our broken immigration system and the one who’s trying to stop her,” the video says.

“Kamala Harris prosecuted transnational gang members and got them sentenced to prison; Trump is trying to avoid being sentenced to prison,” it adds, hitting Trump over his legal issues.

The Trump campaign earlier on Tuesday debuted an ad on immigration, which is a hot-button issue this election that the GOP is trying to hit Harris over. It tagged Harris as the Biden administration’s “border czar,” a reference to her work addressing root causes of migration in the Northern Triangle region.

“After killing the toughest border deal in decades, Donald Trump is running on his trademark lies because his own record and ‘plans’ are extreme and unpopular. As a former district attorney, attorney general, and now vice president, Kamala Harris has spent her career taking on and prosecuting violent criminals and making our communities safer. She’ll do the same as president,” Harris spokesperson Ammar Moussa said in a statement.

Harris and President Biden have bashed Trump and the GOP after Republicans in the Senate blocked passage of the bipartisan border bill twice. The former president urged the GOP to oppose the legislation, suggesting it could give President Biden an election-year win.
