Obama to join Win With Black Men roundtable 

Former President Obama will join a virtual roundtable discussion with Win With Black Men on Sunday evening in a final push to mobilize Black men to back Vice President Harris ahead of Nov. 5. 

The roundtable comes as a growing number of polls show Harris losing support among Black men in an increasingly close race for the White House. 

“We are making the closing argument in this election, a closing argument to debunk the notion that others speak for Black men. They do not,” said Khalil Thompson, founder and executive director of Win With Black Men. 

“We are calling on the greatest political communicator of this generation to remind us that honesty over misinformation strengthens democracy,” he added. “Leadership with a vision to uplift our people through homeownership, business capital, and access to the best educational opportunities is far superior to a leader who seeks to divide and weaken our nation — and why Vice President Kamala Harris will look out for us, not herself, when she is sworn into office.”

Though Harris has stepped up her outreach to Black men, including announcing her “Opportunity Agenda for Black Men;” appearing on popular shows like The Breakfast Club and The Shade Room; and recruiting the help of Obama and other celebrities, 26 percent of Black men ages 18 to 40 said they would for Trump if the election were held today. 

Still, she maintains a steady lead over Trump in battleground states, where 84 percent of Black likely voters in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin said they will support her on Election Day. 

Obama, who has been campaigning for Harris, recently came under fire for critiquing Black men’s waning support from Harris.
