Obama heads west for meeting with tech set

President Obama continues to look for a reset with big business, this time traveling to the West Coast for a meeting with a few of the tech world’s hottest stars.

Obama is flying to San Francisco on Thursday afternoon for a dinner with entrepreneurs, including Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, Apple’s Steve Jobs and Google board chairman Eric Schmidt.

{mosads}A White House official said “the meeting is a part of our ongoing dialogue with the business community on how we can work together to win the future, strengthen our economy, support entrepreneurship, increasing our exports and get the American people back to work.”

“The president and the business leaders will discuss our shared goal of promoting American innovation, and discuss his commitment to new investments in research and development, education and clean energy,” the official said.

After his dinner with tech leaders in the San Francisco area on Thursday night, Obama will travel Friday to Hillsboro, Ore., where he will tour Intel Corporation.

The White House said the president will “will tour the world’s most advanced semiconductor manufacturing facility with Intel CEO Paul Otellini.”

After the tour, Obama will make remarks about “about the importance of out-educating the competition in order to win the future.”

“The president believes that in order to win the future for this generation and the next, we must win the race to educate our kids,” the White House said. “His plan calls for key investments in education to grow the economy and win the future.”

The president is scheduled to return to Washington on Friday night.
