White House laughs off Romney’s foreign policy attacks

{mosads}Romney, a former Massachusetts governor, laid out his plan to rebuild U.S. military strength around the world and outlined his foreign policy doctrine, which he called an “American Century.”

“I will not surrender America’s role in the world,” Romney said Friday. “This is very simple: If you do not want America to be the strongest nation on Earth, I am not your president. You have that president today.”

Carney said the president has an “excellent” record on national security, using House Speaker John Boehner’s (R-Ohio) words from to make the point.

Boehner said Thursday that he has been supportive of Obama’s foreign policies with regard to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, saying that in those areas Obama has “done just fine.”

Carney said that as a result of Obama’s efforts, “we are stronger; we are safer.”
