Jill Biden to attend All-Star game

Jill Biden will travel to Minneapolis on Tuesday to attend Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game and host an event celebrating teachers, the White House announced.

Biden, a community college professor, will meet with “All Star Teachers” drawn from each of the 30 Major League markets at a ceremony Tuesday afternoon, and then watch the game with them and their guests. The group will also appear in a parade through downtown Minneapolis.

{mosads}In 2011, Biden and first lady Michelle Obama attended the first game of the World Series as part of their Joining Forces initiative to benefit military families.

In 2009, President Obama threw out the first pitch at the All-Star Game in St. Louis. It was at that game the president wore a now-infamous pair of “mom jeans.”

Earlier this year, Obama mentioned the incident during a trip to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y.

“At the Hall’s request, I contributed something of my own, which is the jacket I wore when I threw out the first pitch at the 2009 All-Star Game,” the president said. “I hear that with all the media attention about it, there was also some interest in the jeans I wore that night. But Michelle retired those jeans quite awhile back.”
