Obama to deliver eulogy for Charleston pastor
President Obama, first lady Michelle Obama and Vice President Biden on Friday will attend the funeral services for Rev. Clementa C. Pinckney, one of the nine victims of a mass shooting at a black church in Charleston, S.C.
Obama will deliver the eulogy for Pinckney, a White House official said Monday.
{mosads}Pinckney served in the South Carolina state senate and was an early supporter of Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign.
His funeral will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at TD Arena at the College of Charleston, according to reports.
The news was first reported by The Post and Courier of Charleston, S.C.
Obama first publicly addressed the Charleston shootings last Thursday, saying it should be wake-up call to the nation on gun violence.
“We as a country at some point will have to reckon with the fact that this type of mass violence doesn’t happen in other advanced countries,” Obama said.
Dylann Storm Roof, a 21-year old white man, has been charged in the shootings.
