DNC to honor Beau Biden

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) is considering a resolution honoring Vice President Joe Biden’s son, Beau, who passed away earlier this year.

The resolution, which was proposed at the DNC’s annual summer meeting in Minneapolis, comes as Biden is seriously considering a run for president in 2016.

DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Vice Chair Donna Brazile, Vice Chair Raymond Buckley and three other committee leaders have signed onto the document.

{mosads}It recounts the former Delaware attorney general’s career accomplishments and notes that the vice president and his family called him “the finest man any of us have ever known,” according to a draft shared by the party.

The resolution is the latest gesture from the DNC toward Biden as he considers challenging Hillary Clinton for the party’s presidential nomination.

Beau was said to have urged his father to make a White House run before he died from brain cancer.

Biden, who was not in attendance at the meeting, told committee members by phone on Wednesday he is assessing whether he has the “emotional fuel” to launch a presidential campaign while he mourns the death of his son.

Wassermann Schultz also sought out the vice president to help sell the Iran nuclear deal to Jewish community leaders in Miami next week.

The news comes on the same day the DNC reportedly reached an agreement with Clinton to set up a joint fundraising committee, which will allow her to raise general election funds for the national party.
