New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has turned down several offers to serve in President-elect Donald Trump’s administration, NJ Advance Media reports.
{mosads}The Republican governor, who emerged as a top Trump supporter and adviser after he ended his own presidential bid, reportedly turned down offers to be Homeland Security secretary, Veterans Affairs secretary and U.S. ambassador to Italy.
Christie was not offered the role of attorney general, according to NJ Advance Media. The news outlet said the governor wanted the post, which was given to Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.).
Christie served as transition chairman for the Trump campaign but was replaced by Vice President-elect Mike Pence.
In the last few weeks, Christie has been asserting that he will finish out his gubernatorial term, which ends in 2018.
“For some reason, people think I’m equivocal about this,” the governor said during a news event at the Statehouse on Nov. 29.
“And I’m not. I’m completing my term.”
