Blackstone exec under consideration for U.S. trade representative
Republican mega-donor Wayne Berman is reportedly a top candidate to serve as U.S. trade representative in President-elect Donald Trump’s administration, according to Politico.
Berman, who is now a senior executive at the Blackstone Group, worked in the Commerce Department under President George H. W. Bush.
He met with Trump on Monday in Trump Tower, according to Politico.
{mosads}Before going to Blackstone in 2012, Berman also chaired the government relations department at the K Street firm Ogilvy.
Other people under consideration for the position include David McCormick, the president of Bridgewater Associates; Dan DiMicco, the former chairman of steel giant Nucor Group; and Bob Lighthizer, a longtime trade lawyer and former deputy trade representative.
