Who Donald Trump will meet with Tuesday

President-elect Donald Trump will meet men with military or management expertise Tuesday in New York, as he continues to search for a new Veterans Affairs secretary.

Leo MacKay Jr., a senior vice president at Lockheed Martin and former deputy secretary of the VA under President George W. Bush, will meet with the president-elect and Vice President-elect Mike Pence, incoming White House press secretary Sean Spicer told reporters on a Tuesday morning conference call.

They will also meet with Joseph Guzman, a professor at Michigan State University who served on the Trump campaign’s National Hispanic Advisory Council.

Guzman is a board member of The Armed Forces Foundation and the Michigan State website lists his areas of expertise as including “global HR management and business strategy [and] integrating high-involvement HR practices with new technologies and management processes.”

{mosads}Spicer did not offer additional details about either meeting.

Ahead of the morning phone call with reporters, Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway said to expect a “pretty busy day,” with possible announcements of names to fill senior staff positions.

With a little more than two weeks until Inauguration Day, Trump still needs to nominate people to fill three Cabinet roles, including VA secretary.

Those reportedly floated as possible candidates include Army veteran and former Central American Chamber of Commerce head Luis Quiñonez; Cleveland Clinic CEO Toby Cosgrove, who reportedly withdrew his name over the weekend; U.S. Navy Admiral Michelle Howard; former Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.); and Fox News contributor Pete Hegseth.

Nearly two dozen veterans organizations have urged Trump and his transition team to “strongly consider” keeping on current VA Secretary Bob McDonald, arguing he has helped transform the agency over the past two years.

Spicer also touched upon the ongoing issue of Russian cyber attacks, telling reporters that once President Obama is presented the final report about Russia’s interference in the U.S. election, Trump will meet with senior members of the intelligence community.

That briefing is expected later this week, Spicer said.

On New Year’s Eve, Trump said he knows “things that other people don’t know,” and added that he knows “a lot” about hacking.

But did not offer details when pressed by reporters, saying only, “You’ll find out on Tuesday or Wednesday.”

On Monday, Spicer downplayed expectations that Trump will reveal new details about the alleged Russian hacking.

“He’s going to talk about his conclusions and where he thinks things stand. He’s not going to reveal anything that was privileged or was shared with him classified,” Spicer told CNN’s “New Day.”
