Trump team considers evicting press from White House: report

President-elect Donald Trump’s team is reportedly considering evicting the press corps from the White House.

Instead, the press corps may work out of the White House Conference Center, near Lafayette Square, or in the Old Executive Office Building, next door to the White House, Esquire reported.

“There has been no decision,” said Sean Spicer, Trump’s incoming White House press secretary, adding “there has been some discussion about how to do it.”

Spicer questioned whether the current press area would have enough room for all of the reporters looking to cover the president-elect.

{mosads}”There’s been so much interest in covering a President Donald Trump,” Spicer said.

“A question is: Is a room that has 49 seats adequate? When we had that press conference the other day, we had thousands of requests, and we capped it at 400 Is there an opportunity to potentially allow more members of the media to be part of this? That’s something we’re discussing.”

Another senior official, though, called the press the “opposition party.”

“I want ’em out of the building,” the senior official told Esquire. “We are taking back the press room.”
Trump often rails on the media, accusing reporters of dishonest and biased coverage against him.

During his press conference last week, the president-elect feuded with a CNN reporter and refused to let him ask a question. The exchange came after CNN reported a day earlier that intelligence officials had briefed Trump on an unverified dossier alleging the Russian government had compromising information on him.
