Spicer: Trump to meet with Martin Luther King III

Incoming White House press secretary Sean Spicer said early Monday that President-elect Donald Trump will meet with Martin Luther King III on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

The two men will discuss Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy, Spicer said.

Trump also took to Twitter early Monday, calling on Americans to celebrate the holiday and “all the many wonderful things [King] stood for.”

The meeting between the president-elect and Martin Luther King III comes after Trump’s weekend spat with civil rights leader Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.). Trump criticized Lewis on Twitter Saturday, calling the congressman “all talk” and “no action” after Lewis said he did not see Trump as a “legitimate president.”

{mosads}“Congressman John Lewis should spend more time on fixing and helping his district, which is in horrible shape and falling apart (not to mention crime infested) rather than falsely complaining about the election results. All talk, talk, talk – no action or results. Sad!” Trump said in several tweets, sparking outrage.

Reports surfaced over the weekend that Trump would visit the National Museum of African American History and Culture for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. But Spicer on Monday said during an appearance on Fox News that Trump was never scheduled to go to the new museum in Washington, D.C.
