Dem senator: Trump nominees ‘sad’
Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) on Thursday blasted President-elect Donald Trump’s Cabinet nominees, calling them “unknowledgeable [and] uncooperative.”
“Trump’s ‘terrific’ nominees were unprepared, unknowledgeable [and] uncooperative in hearings this week—as President-Elect would say himself: sad,” Blumenthal said in a tweet.

{mosads}The lawmaker’s remark comes after confirmation hearings where Democrats have clashed with several of Trump’s nominees.
Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway on Wednesday criticized Democrats, accusing them of “trying to embarrass” and humiliate the nominees.
“This idea of humiliating and trying to embarrass qualified men and women who just wish to serve this nation is reprehensible,” Conway said.
During one particularly tense exchange on Tuesday, Trump’s pick for Education secretary, Betsy DeVos, defended her career after Democratic lawmakers questioned her qualifications and record.
“If you were not a multibillionaire … do you think that you would be sitting here today?” Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) asked DeVos.
“I do think there would be that possibility,” DeVos answered. “I’ve worked very hard on behalf of parents and children.”
