Trump blasted the media during remarks at CIA headquarters on Saturday, accusing news networks about lying about the size of his inauguration crowd.
“Honestly it looked like a million and half people, whatever it was it was. But it went all the way back to the Washington Monument … and by mistake I get this network and it showed an empty field, and it said we drew 250,000 people. Now that’s not bad, but it’s a lie,” Trump said.
{mosads}Trump also blamed the “dishonest” media for reports of a “feud” with the intelligence community.
“I have a running war with the media,” Trump said.
“They are among the most dishonest human beings on earth. And they sort of made it sound like I had a feud with the intelligence community. And just want to let you know that the reason you’re the No. 1 stop is exactly the opposite.”
Former CIA Director John Brennan was reportedly “deeply saddened” by Trump’s remarks.
Former CIA deputy chief of staff Nick Shapiro said Brennan believes that Trump “should be ashamed of himself” for his “display of self-aggrandizement.”
“Former CIA director Brennan is deeply saddened and angered at Donald Trump’s despicable display of self-aggrandizement in front of CIA’s Memorial Wall of Agency heroes. Brennan says that Trump should be ashamed of himself,” Shapiro said in a pair of tweets.
