Ryan, Kushner met for dinner: report

Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and Jared Kushner had dinner together Wednesday night in Washington, D.C., Politico reported Thursday.

Kushner, President Trump’s son-in-law and a senior adviser, met the Speaker at the Capitol Hill Club, a private Republican establishment located near the Capitol.

Ryan had an at-times strained relationship with Trump during the presidential campaign, briefly withholding his endorsement after Trump clinched the GOP nomination and offering criticism of some of Trump’s policies and controversial statements.

Ryan on Tuesday defended Trump’s executive order temporarily banning travelers from seven Muslim-majority nations into the U.S.

{mosads}“We’re a generous country: It’s important. But we can be generous and watch our national security at the same time,” he said during a closed-door meeting with rank-and-file Republicans.

“I think it’s regrettable that there was some confusion on the rollout with this.”

Kushner married Ivanka Trump, the president’s elder daughter, in October 2009.

The couple have since had three children together, and Kushner has subsequently become one of President Trump’s closest confidants and top aides.
