New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) said Sunday he doesn’t expect to be asked to serve in the Trump administration in the coming years.
“I have absolutely no intention, nor any understanding, that I will be asked to be in the administration in the years to come,” Christie said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”
“My view is, I have got a job to do as governor, and then my intention is to go off to the private sector and to help support my family.”
{mosads}Christie, a strong supporter of Trump during the presidential campaign and a name previously floated for Trump’s Cabinet, said he has been a friend of the president for the last 15 years.
“And whenever he calls and — or I call him — and we have conversations, I’m always willing, if he asks, to give my opinion on things,” Christie said.
When pressed on whether he has talked to the president recently, Christie said that whether or not he talks with Trump will remain “between me and the president of the United States.”
“Mary Pat and I still consider him to be a very good friend of ours,” he added.
