Trump, Abe stop by wedding of top donor during Mar-a-Lago visit

President Trump stopped by a wedding reception at his Mar-a-Lago club Saturday night during the first national security crisis of his administration. 

Trump was at his private club with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe when news broke that North Korea had test-launched a ballistic missile into the Sea of Japan. 

After the two leaders conferred about the incident and spoke at a joint news conference, Trump reportedly brought Abe into a wedding that was going on at the club’s Grand Ballroom. 

The president grabbed the microphone and delivered some impromptu remarks.

“I saw them out on the lawn today and I said to the prime minister of Japan,” Trump said, according to CNN and New York Magazine. “I said, ‘Come on, Shinzo, lets go over and say hello.’ ” 

“They’ve been members of this club for a long time. They’ve paid me a fortune,” the president said, according to CNN. 

The newlyweds were Carl Henry Lindner IV, 33, and Vanessa Jane Falk, 36, New York reported. 

The groom’s father, Carl III, is the co-CEO of the American Financial Group, a multibillion dollar investment firm. 

The elder Lindner contributed $100,000 to two pro-Trump super PACs during his 2016 presidential campaign.
