Trump: ‘I have tremendous respect for women’
President Trump early Wednesday marked International Women’s Day, tweeting that he has “tremendous respect for women and the many roles they serve that are vital to the fabric of our society and our economy.”

Trump’s remarks come amid the nationwide “Day Without a Woman” strike. The protest also involves wearing red and spending money at businesses owned by women or minorities.
Several school districts are also closing nationwide.
All schools in the Alexandria, Va., city school district near Washington, D.C., will be closed Wednesday due to a limited number of staffers — more than 300 had requested the day off.

The “Day Without a Women” protest is being organized by the same group behind the anti-Trump Women’s March on Washington, D.C., the day after his Jan. 20 inauguration.
The event attracted global attention with at least 3 million people participating in affiliated events nationwide, with half a million marching in D.C. alone.
Trump struggled with female voters during the 2016 presidential campaign following the emergence of a controversial audio recording last October.
The tape captured Trump during a 2005 conversation discussing sexually aggressive behavior toward women with former “Access Hollywood” host Billy Bush.
