Pence dodges on whether he believes Obama wiretapped Trump Tower

Vice President Pence refused to answer Wednesday when asked if he believes President Trump’s wiretapping claim against former President Obama.

Pence was asked during an interview with CNN affiliate WEWS reporter John Kosich about Trump’s incendiary claim that Obama tapped Trump Tower during last year’s presidential campaign.

“What I can say is that the president and our administration are very confident that the congressional committees in the House and Senate that are examining issues surrounding the last election, the run-up to the last election, will do that in a thorough and equitable way,” Pence said.

“They’ll look at those issues; they’ll look at other issues that have been raised.”

{mosads}The vice president added the administration is focused on working on what is important to the American people.

“Rest assured our focus is right where the American people are focused and that’s on bringing more jobs here to Ohio,” he said, “creating a better healthcare system built on consumer choice.”

Trump claimed in a series of tweets early Saturday morning that the former president had his wires tapped at Trump Tower before his presidential victory.

The president, citing no evidence, questioned whether it was legal for a sitting president to wiretap “a race for president prior to an election.”

“How low has President Obama gone to tapp [sic] my phones during the very sacred election process,” the president tweeted.

“This is Nixon/Watergate. Bad (or sick) guy!”
