Donald Trump Jr.: ‘I basically have zero contact’ with my father
Donald Trump Jr. said Saturday he has essentially had no communication with President Trump since his father assumed office.
“I basically have zero contact with him at this point,” Trump Jr. said in a speech at a GOP fundraiser in Dallas, according to NBC News.
He said during the fundraiser that he thought he was “out of politics” after the presidential election, and would get back to his “regular life.”
{mosads}”But I couldn’t,” he said.
“Deals are still exciting,” he added. “But when you’re the sort of guy out there every day, 24-7 fighting in this thing — it’s like a great fight.”
Trump Jr. also commended his father for the work he’s done thus far in office.
“I’m watching more take place in two months than I saw in two terms before,” he said.
In January, President Trump said he would hand over control of his business empire to his two adult sons and would place his assets into a trust.
The arrangement spurred controversy, with the head of the Office of Government and Ethics (OGE) criticizing the president’s plans to separate himself from his business, calling it “wholly inadequate” in resolving potential conflicts of interests.
