Price shoots down clean repeal of ObamaCare

Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price on Sunday shot down a clean repeal of ObamaCare, arguing that doing so would put “vulnerable people at risk.”

“What that does is place vulnerable people at risk, and that’s not something that the president’s willing to do, it’s not something that he said he would do,” Price told ABC’s “This Week” when asked what is wrong with a clean repeal.

“Certainly what he has said is that repeal and replace need to occur essentially at the same time, concurrently, and … that’s what we’re moving forward with in this first phase.” 

{mosads}Conservative lawmakers have pushed for a clean repeal of the healthcare legislation, arguing the new GOP plan does not eliminate key elements of ObamaCare. 

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) has been a vocal opponent of the new plan, unveiled earlier this month by House Republicans, saying ObamaCare should be fully repealed and Republicans should start over.

President Trump previously said he wanted the repeal and replacement of the healthcare law to come “very quickly.”
