Trump tweets ahead of Comey hearing: Dems pushing ‘Russia story’

President Trump early Monday slammed the idea that his White House campaign colluded with Russia in a flurry of tweets sent hours before FBI Director James Comey appears before a House panel investigating Moscow’s influence in November’s election.

Trump said Democrats “pushed the Russian story” to cover up for Hillary Clinton’s poorly run presidential campaign.

Trump also said there is no evidence to suggest he worked with Russia.

The president instead tried to direct the spotlight on finding individuals who are leaking classified information.

Later in the morning, he focused on Clinton’s campaign.

“What about all of the contact with the Clinton campaign and the Russians?” he asked in a tweet. “Also, is it true that the DNC would not let the FBI in to look?”

{mosads}Comey and National Security Agency Director Mike Rogers are set to testify in front of a House Intelligence Committee hearing Monday morning.

Republicans and Democrats alike have called for investigations into Russian meddling after hacked emails from Democratic organizations and Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman, John Podesta, were published by WikiLeaks.

The demands for an investigation became louder after reports of connections between Trump campaign aides and Russian diplomats came to light.
