Trump offers Putin ‘full support’ in subway bombing investigation

President Trump in a call with Russian President Vladimir Putin late Monday offered Russia “the full support” of the United States in investigating a terrorist attack in St. Petersburg.

“President Trump offered the full support of the United States Government in responding to the attack and bringing those responsible to justice,” the White House said. “Both President Trump and President Putin agreed that terrorism must be decisively and quickly defeated.”

Fourteen people were killed in a suspected terrorist bombing inside a subway train Monday afternoon in St. Petersburg, Russia’s Tass News Agency reported.

{mosads}The office of Russia’s prosecutor-general said authorities are treating the incident as terrorism.

Putin, who was in St. Petersburg at the time for a meeting with the president of Belarus, said officials “will do everything to find out the causes of what had happened.”

United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley in a statement following the bombings said the U.S. “will stand with Russia on defeating these extremists who continue to senselessly harm innocent people.”
