Ivanka Trump on Wednesday dismissed the suggestion she would seek public office after President Trump’s possible second term.
“Should voters get their Ivanka 2024 campaign signs out?” host Gayle King asked the president’s elder daughter on “CBS This Morning.”
“No,” Trump responded as King noted that “the speculation has already started.”
“Politics is a tough business. Politics is a tough business,” Trump said.
{mosads}President Trump’s election has fueled speculation his adult children may follow his footsteps and run for office.
Reports emerged last month that Ivanka Trump would become an official government employee after initially vowing she would serve her father’s administration in an informal advisory capacity. She became a special assistant to the president last month after criticism about an informal role allowing her to avoid certain ethics rules and required disclosures for serving in the government.
“I have heard the concerns some have with my advising the president in my personal capacity while voluntarily complying with all ethics rules and I will instead serve as an unpaid employee in the White House office, subject to all the same rules as other federal employees,” she said in a March 29 statement.
Jared Kushner, Trump’s husband, serves as a senior adviser to President Trump and is widely regarded as one of his most trusted aides.
