Report: Trump combines Ryan and Priebus, calling them ‘Ryan-ce’

President Trump has taken to grouping Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and White House chief of staff Reince Priebus, calling them “Ryan-ce,” according to a new report.

The New York Times said Friday that multiple West Wing aides had confirmed Trump started using the moniker following the initial defeat of Republicans’ plan to repeal and replace ObamaCare.

Trump reportedly placed much of the blame for the collapse of the American Health Care Act’s (AHCA) first draft on Priebus and Ryan, both seen as mainstream Republicans in contrast with the president’s outsider campaign and administration.

{mosads}House Republicans passed an amended version of the AHCA on Thursday in a narrow 217-213 vote. Trump summed up his outlook when addressing prior criticism of Ryan following the successful House vote.

“It no longer matters because we won,” he said at the White House. “This has brought the Republican Party together.”

Ryan thanked Priebus, White House budget director Mick Mulvaney and Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price for their involvement passing the AHCA.

Priebus on Thursday also heaped praise on Trump following passage of the GOP healthcare bill.

“It’s a great first step,” he told The Hill. “I feel great. The president stepped up and helped punch the ball into the end zone. We are lucky to have President Trump in charge.”
