White House deputy assistant Sebastian Gorka on Monday praised President Trump for his trip to Israel, noting the “smiles” on the faces of Israeli officials during the visit.
“Look at the footage you just showed. Look at the body language. Look at the smiles. It’s so very different. How much different after eight years of Israel being shunned by the last administration,” Gorka told “Fox & Friends.”
Critics of former President Obama’s foreign policy particularly slammed Obama for his tense relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
{mosads}The Obama administration in December abstained from a United Nations vote to condemn Israeli settlements, which infuriated Israeli officials.
“The smiles tell you everything. Our closest ally is now being treated as our closest ally in the Middle East, and it’s going to be an incredible trip,” Gorka added.
Trump is in Israel on Monday, where he is meeting with Netanyahu. The president will also meet with the Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas, on Tuesday.
The visit follows a trip to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, over the weekend. Trump will also stop at the Vatican later this week.
